Guatemala Trip

Poverty and Promise in Latin America

Our Poverty and Promise in Latin America class is taking a Spring Break service trip to Guatemala from March 8-16.

We will be working with the nonprofit organization ImagininGuatemala. IG strives to break the cycle of poverty in the communities they serve by building sustainable housing and providing food, water, health and educational support to families in need.

While in Guatemala, we will be:

  • Building three homes in four days for families in need.
  • Staying in a homestay in Antigua, Guatemala.
  • Hiking up an active volcano.
  • Exploring Antigua's historical sites and markets.
  • Taking a salsa dance lesson.

The cost is $2760 per student.  This price includes the cost of building the houses (materials, etc.), as well as personal expenses (flights, housing, meals, etc.). Our goal is to raise money to help defray the costs for each of our students.

When hundreds of proud, generous Central alumni and friends, like you, give back what they can, Central can provide more learning opportunities and life-changing experiences than ever.  And, in this case, we can also provide safe sustainable homes for three families living in poverty.  This is our Engaged Citizen Core in action!

We hope that you choose to support students as they set off to help others around the world.
