A Cappella Choir 2020

UPDATE: The A Cappella Choir family stepped up in a big way! We've already met our initial goal of $10,000! THANK YOU to our donors so far. Because of the needs of the ensemble, this year especially, we're increasing our goal by $2,500 for a final goal of $12,500. We hope you'll consider supporting the A Cappella Choir!

The 89th Central College A Cappella Choir season continues to inspire and delight audiences even during a pandemic! Our livestreamed concert Wednesday, Nov. 4 touched thousands of people, spreading beauty and joy through our excellent choral tradition. If you missed it, the performance is still available on the Central website.

We are now preparing for the 46th annual Christmas Candlelight Concert, “Peace on Earth,” on Friday, Dec. 11. It also will be a virtual concert. We are discovering ways to sing and build community even during these challenging and unusual times.

Each spring our year ends with a performance tour that raises student artistic vision with a challenging repertoire, as well as new and inspiring venues and audiences. Students discover the strength of collaboration as we work with other ensembles and artists everywhere we go. These annual tours help our musicians learn about themselves and their relationship to the world around them on a deep level. Our next international tour is to Argentina once travel is allowed.

Because of the pandemic, we missed some of our larger fundraising opportunities. While we are unsure of what the coming months will look like, a gift in support of the A Cappella Choir not only reduces costs for our singers while on tour but also will help support our new Poffertjes Stand at Tulip Time, choral music, robe cleaning, additional expenses and choir community building activities. These activities are even more important this year as we strive to ensure all feel connected, included and welcome.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by Dec. 31, 2020, and we need your help! Gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated and make a difference! Check back often to see our progress toward our goal.
